Premise: A young woman, prone to bouts of depression finds her saviour in nature. A reminder of beauty, the natural state of life and how she can make a difference worth making.
I venture out alone
Weary of lying prone
Searching for an answer
My inner-self mutating emotional cancer
An invisible pain so broad in scope
Cannibalizing my sense of hope
Searching for a jolt to escape this depression
A comotose state, painfully barren, making me question
Will I feel something bigger than life to change my fate?
Will I see something powerful, in its natural state?
Will I borrow its energy as my catalyst before its too late?
For me its always been the river - my savior and godsend
Ever changing, never the same, powerful and relentless in its drive to-the-end
The river, symbolic of a long lost friend
I've been depressed so long
To me it feels like a never ending song
Stuck in the blues, the river starts calling
A last chance to save myself from falling
I hear a distant chant, the music picks up time ….
Goodbye grey skey, its not my time to die
Goodbye grey skey, never too late for a spirit to fly
Goodbye grey skey, those who care want to see me try
I drive with purpose and stumble from my truck
Knowing my journey has nothing to do with luck
I find a clearing just inches from the mighty river
The dusk playing mind-games - things seem bigger
The setting sun on the western horizon forms a crimson path
Like the River Nile made blood red by God's wrath
The rising moon to the east shines a steely, icy glow
Freezing my depression, forging a new path I will come to know
The nearby rapids churn frothy whitecaps
Temporary souls, they encourage every cerebral synapse
I hear a distant chant, the music picks up time ….
Goodbye grey skey, my symbolic cleansing never fails
Goodbye grey skey, the nightime river baptizes me anew purging all that ails
Goodbye grey skey, I see hope if you remain nearby
Goodbye grey skey
